Magneto Code Name: Magneto Real Name: Erik Lehnsherr Canon: Yes Gender: Male Age: 47 PB: Magnus Anderberg Personality: Erik is a kind, gentle man, perhaps not what those familiar with the comics would expect. He has a warm smile, a deep love for his kind and a desire to change and better his world. He has deep rooted frustrations with the state of the world, the way mutants are treated and feared. He believes that the Haven is a start towards a better world, but he has a deep rooted believe and ever growing frustration that more needs to be done. When this will come to fruition and drive him to seek more for his kind has yet to be seen. Powers: Magneto has the power to control metal and magnetic fields. He can both sense these fields and manipulate them, using them to manipulate metals. He takes his powers from the magnetic core of the earth, and he has yet to find the extent of his powers. He is still learning to fine tune his control, but he has displayed the ability to manipulate hardened adamantium thus far, suggesting he has amazing potential. History: Erik was the child of a Holocaust survivor, a beautiful but deeply damaged woman who cared for him greatly, and a strict, militaristic, cold father. His mother wanted to ensure that the history of their people, of all that she suffered through, would not be forgotten. Though she was but a child in the camps, she remembered it all very clearly and passed the horror stories on to her son in vivid detail. His father demanded the best from his son, disobedience was swiftly and severely punished. The combined efforts of his parents brought him up to be a proud, rigid and controlled individual. Erik was raised to believe that there were grave injustices in the world, and that it was his duty to ensure that the innocent were protected. He had heard so much of oppression and hate that he felt as if he had experienced it all first hand.
The greatest joy in his life came from spending time with Magda, the neighbor girl. The two grew up as best friends, though eventually became more. They married young, though their romance was short lived. Transia did not have a very good job market, and Erik longed to do something more with his life. He wanted to move to America, but Magda was reluctant to leave her family. Lensherr left for America with the promise that he would send for his wife once he was established, but when that day came Magda did not answer. She had a life with her mother and twin children which she had not yet found the courage to tell her husband about. The two officially divorced and Erik did not return to Transia.
During a trip to Israel, Lensherr met a young Charles Xavier and the two became fast friends. They shared ideas and plans for how to better the world. During this same trip, Erik also met Ya'el Inbari, a beautiful woman who he had a passionate affair with. The romance was short lived however, as Erik returned to America, and Ya'el refused to follow him. When fighting broke out in southwestern Azerbaijan, Erik and Charles traveled together to volunteer their time, efforts and skills to the victims of the war. During this effort, his friend was struck by a stray bullet and thus confined to a wheel chair for the rest of his life. Erik helped Charles return to the States and did all he could to aid his friend in his rehabilitation. The two remained friends and close companions.
December 21st, 2012 brought the world-changing solar flare, the changes deeply impacted Erik. He quickly began calling himself Magneto, moved himself to Xavier's manor as the two friends attempted to understand these strange happenings together. When it became clear that the world was becoming more hostile towards mutants, not less, the two made an important decision: Xavier Manor would be converted into Xavier's Haven, and together they would protect, train and try to understand this new breed of humans. Three months of construction and hard work and the Haven opened its doors to all mutants in need.
Since this time, Magneto has found himself falling more and more out of sync with his old friend, growing impatient with the hatred and bigotry which echoed so clearly from his childhood. Magneto continues to train his team of Acolytes and teaches them the all they need know to survive and defend themselves. He takes a great pride in his team, and hopes that their determination and abilities will inspire all those at the Haven. Affiliation: Haven co-founder, overseer of the Acolytes
